Request a new feature, or support for a camera/lens that you would like to use in Capture One.
What problem do you see this solving?
The Masks that Capture One is capable of creating are great especially what seems to be planned with the AI masking but it would be great to have access to those masks in other tools like photoshop. Could we have a export option even if it was only under the PSD and TIF export options to export masks as alpha channels, just like path to crop?
When was the last time you were affected by this lack of functionality, or specific tool? This would affect our daily workflow, in our studio
Current workaround
Are you using any workarounds or other solutions to achieve your goals in Capture One? |
Coming back a year later to beg for this again :)
Just had to go through a job of 70+ images, the workflow was to create an AI subject selection, set all the sliders to 0, then make a layer on top to further expand the contrast boundaries, then export these as TIFF files to paste into an Alpha in the originals so I could make the selections (Fine fur that PS just couldn't see and C1 nailed with a click or two).
It worked, just, but only because the backgrounds were bright. If the backgrounds had been darker with the limited range of the exposure/brightness sliders I'm not sure I'd have been able to push things far enough without repeated multiple layers.
Pleasepleaseplease let us "Export Adjustment Layers as Alpha Channels" on PSD/TIFF export. We'll send flowers and chocolates.
I would find it very advantageous if C1 could export to a psd file with the layers, not the adjustments.
So if I removed the background in C1 the output file would have the background layer and the mask layer, So the image would just be the subject. The background transparent, then Photoshop needed to put in the new background
Currently the subject would be on a white background, needing Photoshop to do the masking again, but the PS masking is not as great as the C1 masking
I am in product testing (free month) for separations application. I would buy it and recommend it if it could do this export masks into psd.
IT WOULD BE GREAT IF YOU COULD EXPORT CAPTURE ONE MASKS AND LAYERS TO EXTERNAL SYSTEMS LIKE Photoshop
(Seriously the C1 AI masking is so far ahead of Adobe's it actually hurts to have to use the PS tools right now, Hats off to the C1 Engineers for this one!!)
I don't believe C1 was ever pitched as a replacement for a pixel level editor, I have to restore and repair paper backdrops & correct outfits and skin on the regular which is something that C1 wasn't, isn't, and IMO shouldn't be pitched at. Be nice if I could hit a button and have the backdrops decreased, colour unified and edge extended, but we're talking magic fairy dust here!
Aware that people will need to go and push pixels in SomeOtherTool at some point, easing that step into the PIxel Pusher would be a good focus, for me the current pain points are:
A little off piste there, and all 3 issues are already present on the forum somewhere, so all one can do is sit tight and hope..
In fact if I might, I'd say C1 needs to focus on Colour tools above pixel editing tools, things like a SAT-SAT curve, or an AB Matrix editor, or some way to focus any tool at all on Neutrals! (Also an "improve C1" thread elsewhere). One only needs to look at "3D LUT Creator" for inspiration on how to provide greater control over colour.
370116679178 – what features would you need in Capture One to never have to go to Photoshop?
Just spent another 30 minutes in Photoshop fighting their lacklustre "Select Subject" masking tool, capture one *NAILS IT* almost every time.
Please please please please please let us include layer masks as PSD alpha channels. Please. The C1 AI masking is next level wizardry, it's agony not being able to (quickly) spread the magic to Photoshop..
I found this workaround but it is a little sketchy

I am a professional retoucher and would also love this feature!
