HDR: Queue/Batch the processing

PROBLEM:

The HDR feature for architecture/real-estate jobs. It means, when I come back from the job, my cards contains at least 40 pictures over 120 RAWS (bracketing 0,+,-). Currently, for each pictures I have to:

- wait for the previous HDR merge is done

- select the 3 RAWs

- start the HDR merge

- wait again

It's painful slow and time consumming.

LAST TIME/WHEN:

Today. And a few times a week. Dependings of my currents jobs.

WORKAROUND:

I do not know any

WISH:

I would like to select all my HDR's ready pictures, and click on "detect HDR and Merge".

-> C1 would detect the pictures

-> Merge everything

-> Error should be mentioned in the Event Log

HAPPY TO BE CONTACTED:

Yes.

Last note: the HDR and Panorama features do NOT use my GPU. Leaving a task typtaclly GPU-friendly for the CPU. The same Panorama ist at least 1000% faster using PTGui which take advantage of the GPU.

Tested in a Windows 10 i7 RTX Laptop and on a Windows 11 i7-1260P desktop

I usually do batch merging in Lightroom and export DNG with Camera raw 5 compatibility settings. Then C1 understands these files. This is the only reason I still keep Lr on my PC. In addition, Lr allows to configure the merge more flexibly.
But this, of course, is too much complexity that is annoying on every project. I expect this to change since the release of HDR stacking

Definitely need to be able to queue HDR Merge requests. Having to wait for every single action to start another is so painfully slow and pointless. This must be such a simple thing to do.

Please can this get addressed. It seems such an important feature, to have batches for processes, when there is no auto batch function. I don't get why it's not being considered key, when really this type of functionality is something that would have been expected many years ago.

    Thanks Rani.

Do you think the lightroom results are as good or better that Capture One?

We know batch processing is the solution which all other HDR software programs use!

I am on the M1 and about to upgrade, I was hoping that the new M2/M3 chips might help the Capture One HDR situation but guessing not.

    Charlie Coleman,

Exactly, I prefer CaptureOne but when it takes 60 times longer for batch HDR files compared to Lightroom, so it's not usable at the moment for 30+ files at once.

Lightroom is a good alternative, you can "auto stack by time" and then mark all the files you want to make into HDR and you can create as many HDR files you want in one go.

About apple chips, I currently use the M2 Max chip and it has excellent performance in CaptureOne, many times faster than my previous 15inch 2018 macbook pro. But making 30 HDR files at once in Lightroom still takes a couple of minutes, it's not instant.

    Yes, sure thing.

The biggest I think is discussing solutions to help the professional photographs working within real estate and architecture whilst making some noise so they might take notice of us (comment chat upvote).

16992381475101 or anyone else in this thread.

I totally understand how frustrating this problem is and it is by far the biggest bottle neck for estate/architecture photography in Capture One.

Has anyone discovered methods to accelerate this process? Do the latest Mac chips offer any bumps in speed?

Additionally, has anyone identified alternative software solutions as effective workarounds? Lightroom, Aurora HDR, etc.?

The issue I have with other software is I like the Capture One result but we all know the problem with it.

1901072955773, hi! For real estate/architecture photography that's the main showstopper to migrate from Lightroom to your product, guys. Having both products for different parts of the workflow doesn't make sense.

Image coming back after the photoshoot with i.e. 300 photos that will result in 60 final pictures after merging (5 pictures to be merged per final frame). I need to wait for 30 seconds until the picture is merged, then select another 5 photos and wait 30 seconds again so I can do the same action. Multiply that by 60 times and count the time wasted :) Even if that would be 5 seconds per photo - it does not make sense to sit and watch while it's being done.

Instead, I want to start the first merge and add the remaining merge jobs in the queue so I don't waste time sitting by the computer while merging happens.

Hope this will get prioritised one day :)
    Cheers!

Yes Charlie I feel the same, after every real-estate or architecture I end up using Lightroom, but i want to use CaptureOne.

This is by far the worst thing about Capture One!!!

All architectural photographers must feel the same.

Please at a minimal add a que function so we can don't have to wait for the result to move on to the next HDR.

    PLEASE LISTEN TO US

I think creating the HDR option without adding queue processing. It does not make any sense. I think it is a great demand and this matter is not being paid attention to.

@Pascal C: Vote up the thread.

I guess the one thing which will make C1 take care is the votes

    Hello,
Same here. I waste a lot of time, whereas C1 could automatically group the bracketed photos in batches. Other software does this but does not achieve the same fusion quality.
C1 is exceptional software, it is true professional and quality software
Please listen to this request coming from the field. As a professional photographer, I take a lot of photos in real estate, decorator, architect. I have to use HDR fusion to manage exterior and interior brightness. Please improve your software with a little.

Same here, I have to merge all the real estate shots manually. HDR batch processing would be a huge time saver

Yeah, I really love (and use  lot!) the HDR function. However, it feels half-baked:

    - no GPU-acceleration

    - no batch

    - no queue.

Batch Merge to HDR

What problem do you see this solving? Say I've done an interior shoot - I've come back with 3 exposure sets for 50-60 different shots. Currently, I have to 1* all image sets and then go set by set to merge them to HDR and then do a search for .dng...
