Communication and Notes

What problem do you see this solving?

Describe the problem or issue you are having in Capture One.

Think about what it is that you're trying to achieve, and the reason why you are trying to do it.

1. It is really hard to get answers from C1 when there's an issue. I have a personal connection to C1employees I'll text directly to solve issues when I have a problem on set with C1 but going through traditional email routes took weeks. Not helpful. At least have a live chat support.

2. The program NEEDS a notes section. Just a text box you can add text to note stuff from lunch orders to color and editing notes to client notes, etc. Ideally it could be exported and sent outward too.

When was the last time you were affected by this lack of functionality, or specific tool?

If your feedback is more general, simply let us know how much your workflow is affected.

I had a corruption issue several months ago with a session where I had to both go to my personal friend AND email support like 6 times and still the only solution was updates weeks after my shoot and I had to just switch computers in the immediate. Not helpful.

Current workaround

Are you using any workarounds or other solutions to achieve your goals in Capture One?

This is so we have a greater understanding of how your workflow is affected, and how we can improve the existing tools and functionality.

For notes, pen and paper.

For bugs, using my other computer and my direct contacts at C1

Oh, ok, I see. Sorry Thomas
There is no link to my request as I sent it in an email with a list of suggested features. This was before I discovered "Feature Requests", but the support person didn't mention that to me when I asked how to make suggestions.
No doubt all those suggestions have been lost somewhere, so I've been meaning to resubmit them here, though some of them have been requested by others anyway.

I'm aware of the difference – which is why I referred to the annotation request as related rather than, say, identical.

Do you have a link to your notes box request?

No no, we're not asking for Written Annotations, though we'd like that too.
Annotations are superimposed on the image.
What we want is a text or notes box - read the request

(and yes, I agree, they should be two separate requests)

Regarding the option to add notes, here's a related request: Written annotations.

(Perhaps it would be a good idea to split up the two requests – for support and notes – as they aren't directly related.)

YES please, the NOTES BOX is a great idea. I already requested this in June 21.
I would suggest along the bottom of the Viewer where one line of say, 20 characters, can always be seen, but click to open a dialogue box of say, up to 200 char. to display all the text and edit it.
Possibly also an option to not show it all (in Preferences?) for those averse to cluttering their workspace.

This would be useful to add info about and reasons for adjustments made, and also info about the image content, such as location or event info, and to refer to when presenting a slide-show.

As a workaround I am currently creating .txt files alongside my images as a kind of "sidecar" file and using Annotations to remind me of such, but this is not really practical or infallible, though it's the only alternative I can think of.
